Biogeokemiska kretslopp i akvatiska system

Akvatisk biogeokemi vid INES har ett särskilt men inte exklusivt fokus på löst organiskt kol i boreala sötvattenssystem. Pågående student- och forskningsprojekt behandlar ett brett spektrum av ämnen, från reglering av vattenkemi via processer i den omgivande marken, till omsättning av näringsämnen i sjöar och estuarier, samt rekonstruktioner av planktonfödovävar. Tidigare genomförda fältkampanjer har riktat in sig på estuarier och flodmynningar längs de svenska kusterna med syfte att skapa en bättre förståelse för hur avrinningen från land bidrar till biologisk syreförbrukning i Östersjöns kustområden.
