Margareta Johansson elected as new Chair of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences' National Committee for Global Environmental Change

Margareta Johansson

Margareta Johansson, researcher at the department, has been elected as the new Chair of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences' National Committee for Global Environmental Change. Here she answers some questions regarding this.

What's the purpose of the the Academy's National Committee for Global Environmental Change?

– Our mission is to ensure that Swedish scientists find out what is happening on the international market. For example, to inform about the Future Earth, which is a major project bringing together issues of global environmental change. But of equal importance is for us to ensure that Swedish researchers are visible in the world as well.

How do you like becoming the Chair for this committee?

– It's really exciting. I get to work with a wide range of people, eg economists, doctors, engineers, social scientists, so it's really exciting and stimulating. Much of what we do is possible because of SSEESS, who are our administrative partners and our network outwards.
