Climate Change in the Arctic

This course is only for students in the EnCHiL Master´s programme, to whom this course is mandatory.

Course content

The course introduces you to historical, present and future climate change and how these have affected, or will affect various Arctic ecosystems and landscape elements. You will learn to valuate the importance of natural and human-induced climate change processes and understand how to relate these to each other. You will also study climate research and the research process, including uncertainty and critical scrutiny Via relevant scientific literature, typical examples are reported with a clear component of critical scrutiny. The course deals with both terrestrial, aquatic and marine ecosystems.

Teaching methods

The course consists of lectures with linked exercises that are mainly given through distance learning. In addition, seminars are given, normally on site in Lund. The course ends with a comprehensive project work. Exercises and project work are carried out individually or in groups. Attendance at all teaching elements except the lectures that consist of pre-recorded video is mandatory.
