Open Source GIS

GISN04

This is an internet based course that can only be taken by students of the GIS master program.

Course contents

Open Source GIS and volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) are two most important concepts in today’s GIS. This course starts with introduction to open source and participation in open source projects. You then review examples of open source software in GIS. This part also includes practical exercises for working with some open source GIS software. The course ends with discussion on VGI.

Teaching methods

Teaching consists of lectures and practical exercises that you will submit to the teachers. The course ends with a project.
