Programme contents

The master's program in GIS and remote sensing deals with theoretical, methodological and technical aspects of the subject area and aims to develop advanced knowledge and skills for entry into the labor market or to prepare for doctoral studies in the subject. The studies include theoretical knowledge and skills in geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, spatial analysis, spatial data infrastructure (SDI), machine learning and computer science. The education also deals with national and global areas of application, especially in the field of natural sciences such as physical geography, environmental science, and earth observation. The training program also deals with the role of GIS and remote sensing in the area of community construction, and applications mainly focusing on environmental, physical and urban planning.

Job market after education

The master's program in geomatics aims to provide an attractive education that is sought after in state and municipal administration, private business and provides a basis for research in the field. The use of GIS in particular is extremely expansive in a number of industries. To meet the growing need for people with competence in geomatics, the need for education is considered to be very great. It is mainly municipalities, administrations and consulting companies that currently employ geomaticians.
