Geographical Information Systems, advanced

GISA22 - for online GIS programme students only

This course is intended for you to take after GISA21.

Course contents

 In this course, you will learn advanced GIS techniques and analyses. The course is a balanced mix of theoretical foundation and practical applications. It contains eight modules including:

  • remote sensing
  • digitalisation and image rectification
  • map accuracy assessment
  • interpolation
  • databases (management, SQL, meta data)
  • advanced GIS analysis
  • topographical modelling and
  • implementation of GIS in organisations

The course includes both a theoretical part and practical exercises for each module. The course provides basic as well as advanced methodologies for

  • data capture (digitalization, remote sensing)
  • data correction
  • map accuracy assessment
  • data processing and enhancement (interpolation)

Advanced analyses include fuzzy set theories and modelling as well as topographical modelling. Teaching consists of lectures and practical exercises that you will submit to the teachers.

Distance education

This course is given online - you do not need to travel to Lund in order to attend.
