Open position: Postdoctoral fellow in carbon cycle modelling

The Inverse Modelling group at the Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science (INES), Lund University, seeks to appoint a post-doctoral fellows to work on the quantification of biogenic and anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GhG) emissions based on assimilating relevant observational data.

The main duties involved in a post-doctoral posistion is to conduct research. Teaching may also be included, but up to no more than 20% of working hours. The position shall include the opportunity for three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning.

The post-doctoral fellow shall perform the following duties:

  • Carry out further development, testing and application of a fossil fuel data assimilation system (FFDAS), either stand alone or in a coupled carbon cycle data assimilation system (CCFFDAS)
  • Carry out further development, testing and application of the regional inverse modelling system LUMIA
  • Conduct experiments to simultaneously study biogenic carbon cycling and anthropogenic fossil fuel emissions using atmospheric observations (e.g. remotely sensed carbon dioxide concentrations, radiocarbon, co-emitted species) and ground-based activity data with a focus on Europe.
