Course contents

This course, following on from Part I, continues the introduction to the theory of atmosphere dynamics. The course will give you an introduction to mathematical equations describing the large scale movements of the atmosphere, such as waves and the instability generating them.

The technology of numerical weather prediction will be taught, providing insights into which models are used today at the weather service. You will also learn about advantages and disadvantages of different models. By the end of the course, you will have learnt about the various processes controlling atmospheric large-scale dynamics and how meteorologists use forecasts in their daily work.

Teaching

Teaching will be in form of lectures, group work and seminars.
