This course provides means on how to define, plan and carry out a project at an academic level. The project is intended to be the Master´s thesis, but could be any academic report. The course is best suited to be run in close relation or even parallel to the progress of the project. It is divided into several parts involving both theoretical lectures and practical exercises. Library Knowledge presents how to find relevant books and journals, as being a fundamental part of any academic report. Scientific Theories and Scientific Methods introduce general theories, and also give the participant an opportunity to focus on methods relevant to his/her own research area. Argument Theory involves basic structures of arguments that are discussed and exemplified.
NOTE: This is an internet based course. You are not required to travel to Lund to attend. The course is part of iGEON, the master program in GIS, but it is also possible to study this course outside the program. You can read more about the master program, the admission requirements and other rules and regulations on the homepage of iGEON.
NOTE: Notice that Research Methodology course is a prerequisite for the master thesis course.
