Strengthening the capacity of University of Rwanda in Research and Education in the field of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation
Geo-Information Science (i.e. documentation and modelling in space and time) as well as Remote Sensing (the use of satellite imagery) play an increasingly important role for a sustainable environment, sound natural resources management, and socio-economic transformation, in Rwanda as well as in the rest of the world. Also advanced skills in geomatics, i.e. the more technical aspects of Geo-Information, are a necessity for modern society.
The aim and focus of this project is joint research and capacity building in the field of Geo-Information between University of Rwanda (UR) and two world class Swedish partners (Lund University and KTH) as well as partner universities in the East-African region (Ardhi University, Tanzania and Makerere University, Uganda), focusing on Land Management and Urban and Regional Planning (UR-KTH,) as well as Geomatics and Environment/Natural Resources (UR-LU).
