Climate effects on Ecosystems
Ecosystem response to climate change and land use
This research group focuses on applied biogeographical themes, particularly responses of vegetation and ecosystem properties to changes in climate and land use both in the past as well as in the future, with important applications both for advancing theoretical understanding and practical ecosystem management.
Main areas of research are analyses of the effects of climate on natural phenomena. Some examples are:
- vegetation, using dynamic vegetation models
- wildfires, using statistical methods
- ecosystem services as well as their interactions with each other.
We are also active in the analysis of phenology and have been assessing carbon fluxes of natural systems and their relation to land use and climate.
