RCA-GUESS

RCA-GUESS is one of the first regional Earth System models capable of simulating the interactions between a changing land surface and climate. It is built up of the regional atmospheric model RCA4 developed at SMHI and the dynamic vegetation model LPJ-GUESS. It can simulate fluxes of carbon, water and energy in both natural and managed ecosystems. It has recently been updated with advanced land-use dynamics and management. RCA-GUESS has been applied in a broad range of CORDEX domains, ranging from South America, Africa, Europe and Arctic ecosystems.

Figure adapted from Smith et al. (2011). All potential component linkages and frequencies are documented in standard resolution. Various configurations involve component models and their couplings.

Further information on the RCA-GUESS Model can be found in the RCA-GUESS Model description paper authored by Smith et al. (2011).
