GIS and Physical Planning

GISN14

This course is only for the GIS master programme students. This is an Internet based course. You are not supposed to travel to Lund to attend.

Course contents

This course teaches you how GIS can be integrated in physical planning processes and used for decision support. You will get an overview of:

  • theories and concepts of physical planning
  • laws and conventions of political processes in physical planning
  • the role of architectural characteristics and building traditions
  • strategies for conducting suitability analysis for different physical planning needs

You are trained to apply this knowledge to solve real-life problems. You will analyze case studies and problems associated with planning both in real-time and long-term.

Throughout the whole course the level of teaching is high, and the course participants are challenged with a variety of exercises and case studies on which to apply knowledge gained.

Teaching methods

Teaching consists of lectures and practical exercises that you will submit to the teachers. Evaluation is based on corrected and approved exercises sent to the teachers.

Distance learning

This course is only for students on the online GIS master programme. This is an Internet based course, you are not supposed to travel to Lund to attend.
