Dynamic meteorology and numerical weather prediction



This course will be replaced with NGEA24 and NGEA25, both of which will be announced soon.

Course contents

This course will give you an introduction to the theoretical background of atmosphere dynamics. The course will give you an introduction to mathematical equations which can describe large scale movements in the atmosphere.

Taking this course will teach you what numerical weather prediction is and which models are used today at the weather service. You will also learn about advantages and disadvantages of different models.

At the end of the course, you will be able to understand the impact of different processes in the atmosphere. You will also learn how meteorologists use forecasts in their daily work.


Teaching will be in form of lectures, group work and seminars.
