Our Professor emeritus Anders Lindroth, was conferred an honorary doctorate at the Univeristy of Helsinki last week. The following motivation is stated:
"Honorary doctorates in science will be conferred on Professor Emeritus Anders Lindroth from Lund University, an exceptionally versatile and multidisciplinary scholar of micrometeorology and biogeochemical cycles.

- It feels incredibly honorable and almost overwhelming when I got to know that honorary doctor is the finest award that one can be honored with at the University of Helsinki! The reception was fantastic and you got VIP treatment in the days three with speech, song, dance and music. The closing party with polonaise and night walks together with all promovendi (magistrates, doctors, anniversary doctors and honorary doctors) who sang various songs for the statues in one of theHelsinki parks was a special experience. A memory for the rest of your life, says Anders.

The conferment ceremony at the Faculty of Philosophy has the longest tradition of all Finnish academic festivities, according to the website of University of Helsinki.
