A Nordic research network

| This project is sponsored by the Nordic Council of Ministers through its NordForsk agency |

The NORDFLUX network is built up around the groups in Nordic countries studying processes that controls the exchange of greenhouse gases in different types of ecosystems and regions at high latitudes. The activities are focussed on workshops covering different thems and on exchange and visibility grants.
The main objective of the network is to provide a platform for PhD students and younger researchers to develop the research in the field of global climate change in particular on the exchanges of the main greenhouse gases, CO2, CH4 and N2O.
All teams in the network are running advanced field sites or/and laboratories fitted for experimental work in this area of research. The network will give access to these research infrastructures of the highest international standard representing important high latitude ecosystems, which probably will be exposed to the largest environmental changes in the future. The workshops will constitute an arena for discussions and information exchange between younger and more experienced researchers.
The network will also provide the PhD students and other researchers with an extensive database collected during the previous Nordic Centre of Excellence, NECC. This will be particularly valuable for those working with modelling and for synthesis work. The overall aim is to increase our understanding of how the Nordic ecosystems function with respect to the climate system.
