The course aims at conveying knowledge on how new technology could be implemented in an organisation and proficiency in how to use different tools for needs assessment (SWOT, PEST) and planning of implementation processes (ULM) and development of spatial databases and handling systems.
The course also deals with identification of possible users and their specific needs as well as the needs from an organisational aspect, regulations and laws affecting implementation and data handling and how these could be analysed, specified and translated into an action plan for the implementation, integrating data, software, IT infrastructure, training and organisation. This is done by examining existing organisations and assess the solutions adopted by them as well as adopting the above mentioned tools on conceptual cases. In the course also basic database modelling is included.
Throughout the whole course the level of teaching is high, and the course participants are implementing useful concepts in different exercises, where the focus is on GIS.
