The course gives thorough theoretical and practical knowledge about the most common spatial algorithms in GIS. The theory concentrates mainly on spatial concepts and algorithms (both vector and raster). In the practical part of the course, the student implements some well-known algorithms using a standard programming language. It is highly recommended that you study Geographical databases before this course. BE AWARE: This course requires some programming skills. If you have not programmed before, you are not recommended to attend this course.
NOTE: This is an internet based course. You are not supposed to travel to Lund to attend. The course is part of LUMA-GIS, the master program in GIS, but it is also possible to study this course outside the program. You can read more about the master program, the admission requirements and other rules and regulations on the homepage of LUMA-GIS.
Teaching consists of lectures and practical exercises that you will submit to the teachers. The course ends with a written examination.
