Education - All courses - Open Source GIS

Open Source GIS and volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) are two most important concepts in today’s GIS. This course starts with introduction to open source and participation in open source projects. Then examples of open source software in GIS are reviewed. This part also includes practical exercises for working with some open source GIS software. The course ends with discussion on VGI.

NOTE: This is an internet based course. You are not supposed to travel to Lund to attend. The course is part of LUMA-GIS, the master program in GIS, but it is also possible to study this course outside the program. You can read more about the master program, the admission requirements and other rules and regulations on the homepage of LUMA-GIS.

Teaching consists of lectures and practical exercises that you will submit to the teachers. The course ends with a project.
