Niklas Boke-Olen’s dataset of projected population density published in Nature – scientific data

DataGURU projection

A population projection dataset of African population spanning over the rest of this century has been generated by Niklas Boke-Olén and Veiko Lehsten. It is the first of its kind as it integrates both socio-economic pathways (SSPs) and representative concentration pathways (RCPs). The published article can be found hereThe publication of this data set also led to the accreditation of DataGURU as a Nature data repository.

DataGURU has been financed by BECC and MERGE over several years and serves as their official project data repository. It has currently received an infrastructure grant via a BECC application.

DataGURU provides easy access to historical and future climate data, such as European habitat projections, as well as many other types of data. It allows all researchers to deposit their data before publication and to receive an Digital Object Identifier System (DOI) for their datasets. This has shown to be an advantage for the manuscript in the review process, since it demonstrates the accessibility of the data to the reviewer.
