EASAC - European Academies 'Science Advisory Council - has published a new report dealing with the multifunctional role of forests, focusing on biodiversity and climate. Among other things, the report debunks the myth of bioenergy's climate neutrality, and proposes measures that strengthen biodiversity, thus providing increased sustainability and resistance to diseases and other disorders in the forest.

What is EASAC?

"EASAC - the European Academies' Science Advisory Council - is formed by the national science academies of the EU Member States to enable them to collaborate with each other in providing independent science advice to European policy-makers. It thus provides a means for the collective voice of European science to be heard. EASAC was founded in 2001 at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences."
