Melting sea ice in the Arctic accelerates methane emissions

Frans-Jan Parmentier, researcher at our department, was interviewed in NyTeknik about his new research that shows that methane emissions from the Arctic tundra increase when the Arctic ice melts.

“The decreased amounts of Arctic sea ice is one of the most visible consequences of climate change, and has a huge impact on the Arctic climate”, he said. International media also reported on the news, for instance, Science Daily.
