Marku Rummukainen featured in the media on the topic of climate change

Markku Rummukainen

Markku Rummukainen has been featured twice in Dagens Nyheter recently, and once in Forskning & Framsteg.

In one article in Dagens Nyheter, Rummukainen was interviewed about capturing and storing of carbon dioxide as a strategy for mitigating climate change. The technology is called CCS, which stands for carbon, capture and storage.

Rummukainen says he'd prefer if emissions could be avoided altogether, but that limiting global warming to two degrees without CCS will be harder.

In another article in Dagens Nyheter, Rummukainen was interviewed about another emergency measure for mitigating climate change: emitting large amounts of sulphur into the atmosphere in order to repel some of the radiation from the sun.

Rummukainen says "This could be an emergency alternative to be used if we fail to slow down global warming, but there may be unexpected consequences".

In Forskning & framsteg, Rummukainen is featured providing expert answers on climate change.
