2 PhD studentships (doktorandtjänster) in physical geography and ecosystems analysis open at Lund University

About the positions

Join our cross-disciplinary team of researchers in a project concerning forest phenology. We are looking for one student specializing in remote sensing and one in ecosystem modelling. The students will participate in a FORMAS-supported project that involves a wide range of expertise, including remote sensing, ecosystem modelling, statistics, forest management and forest economics.

Supervisors for the two currently announced positions will be Lars Eklundh (remote sensing) and Anna Maria Jönsson (ecosystem modeling).

The studentships are open for application and announcements are placed on the university web pages.

The reference numbers are 588 (remote sensing) and 605 (ecosystem modelling).

See link to the positions here.                   Länk på svenska till tjänsterna finns här.

Note the deadline for applying: March 12, 2010.

About the phenology project

Phenology is the study of periodic plant and animal life cycle events, and how these are influenced by seasonal and interannual cycles. We want to investigate how possible changes in phenological cycles can affect future forests in northern Europe. We will use remote sensing, statistics and advanced models in ecosystem science and forest management to predict the effects of phenological change related to global warming.
